Blender Tutorial: How to Reset Viewport

Jul 23, 2024

Are you struggling to navigate the viewport in Blender? Do you find yourself lost in the vast 3D space, unable to find the object you're working on? Don't worry, we've got you covered. In this Blender tutorial, we'll show you how to easily reset the viewport so you can get back to focusing on your 3D modeling. Let's get started.

Step 1: Open Blender and Load Your 3D Model

First, open Blender and load the 3D model you're working on. Make sure you're in the 3D viewport and you have your model in view.

Step 2: Resetting the Viewport

To reset the viewport, simply press the period key (.) on your keyboard. This will focus the viewport on the selected object, making it the center of your view. If you want to focus on a specific part of your model, select the object or part and then press the period key.

Step 3: Navigating the Reset Viewport

Once you've reset the viewport, you can now easily navigate around your model without getting lost. Use the middle mouse button to pan, the scroll wheel to zoom in and out, and hold down the shift key while using the middle mouse button to orbit around the object. This will allow you to work more efficiently and see the details of your model without any hassle.

Step 4: Saving Your Progress

After you've reset the viewport and made your desired changes, don't forget to save your progress. You can do this by going to File > Save or using the shortcut Ctrl + S.

And there you have it! You've successfully reset the viewport in Blender and are now able to navigate and work more efficiently in the 3D space. We hope this tutorial has been helpful to you in your 3D modeling journey.
