How to Import OBJ File in After Effects

Oct 17, 2024

Hey everyone, in this video, I'm going to show you how to import an OBJ file into After Effects so that you can bring 3D models into your projects. It's really easy to do and can add a whole new level of creativity to your videos.

Step 1: First, make sure you have the plugin called 'Element 3D' installed in your After Effects. This plugin allows you to import and work with 3D models, including OBJ files.

Step 2: Once you have the plugin installed, simply create a new composition in After Effects where you want to add your 3D model.

Step 3: Go to the 'Scene Setup' window in After Effects and click on 'Import 3D Sequence'. Choose the OBJ file you want to import and click 'Open'.

Step 4: After Effects will then import the OBJ file and you can adjust its position, scale, and rotation to fit your project.

Step 5: You can also add textures and materials to your 3D model by using the materials options in the 'Scene Setup' window.

Step 6: Once you're happy with how your 3D model looks, you can go back to your main composition and see it integrated into your video.

And that's it! You've successfully imported an OBJ file into After Effects and added a 3D model to your project. It's a great way to take your videos to the next level and impress your audience with stunning 3D visuals.
